In both the Caucasus and Central Asia, Turkic nations living under the rule of Tsarist Russia began to take their first steps towards nationalization in the 19th century. Revolutionary movements that broke out one after another in Russia led to the Turkic nations' publicistic activities. One of the most prominent of these communities that started broadcasting was the Azerbaijani Turks.
Omar Faik Numanzade, who was one of the intellectuals of that period, played an important role in the publishing life of Azerbaijan in the direction of nationalization. O. F. Numanzade was always in search of solutions to these problems, touching on the social issues of Russian Turks in his articles and works in various newspapers. O.F. Numanzade, who was born in the village of Azgur in Ahıska region, completed his higher education in Istanbul. While working at the Galata Post Office, he had the opportunity to read and evaluate the newspapers and magazines coming from abroad as part of his job, and thus tried to improve himself in the field of publishing. After his return to Ahiska, he was a leader of his people. He became a leader of the people by teaching and writing in newspapers and magazines. He also worked in printing houses, newspapers and magazines. However, he could not survive the "massacre" of Turkic intellectuals by the Soviet Union and was shot in 1937.
This study provides information about O.F. Numanzade's life and activities and translates his work, Neshr-i Asara Davet [Invitation to Publish Works], which was published in 1905.
